Title I Description

All 6 schools in this district are eligible for Title IA.  Arctic Village is designated as a CSI school and John Fredson is designated as a TSI school according to the Accountability.
Title IA is additional federal funds to support schools that have a high percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. These funds can be used to reduce class size, increase school counselors, provide additional teaching assistants, provide before or after school tutoring, provide professional development, support teachers with instructional coaching and strengthen family engagement.
Yukon Flats School District has the responsibility of notifying parents of every level of Title IA.  Notification is a key element of family and parent engagement. Parent and family engagement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents, schools, and communities with the goal of educating the whole child to ensure student achievement and success.

Written Parent and Family Engagement Policies

Districts and schools must notify parents of participating children1 in Title I schools, and the community, of their written parent and family engagement policies, jointly developed with parents of participating children. [ESSA Section 1116 (a)-(b)] This includes a district notification and a school notification.

Written School-Parent Compact

Schools that receive Title I, Part A funds must jointly develop with parents, a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high standards. [ESSA Section 1116(d)] Compacts will be passed out at the first meeting after school begins.
